Ingredients
Scale
½ cup popcorn kernels
2 tablespoons coconut oil (or oil of choice)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (for sweetness)
2 tablespoons melted butter (optional but adds richness)
Instructions
Preparation
- Gather all ingredients and tools: a large pot with a lid, mixing bowl, and seasoning ingredients.
- Adjust the cayenne to your desired heat level.
Cooking Steps
Pop the Corn:
- Heat the coconut oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add 2-3 test kernels and cover with a lid.
- Once they pop, pour in the remaining popcorn kernels, cover the pot, and shake occasionally to prevent burning.
- When popping slows to about 2-3 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
Prepare the Seasoning:
- In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, melt the butter (if using) and mix it with the honey or maple syrup.
Coat the Popcorn:
- Pour the popped popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle the melted butter and honey mixture over the popcorn, tossing to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly, tossing again to ensure full coverage.
Serve:
- Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately!
Notes
- Heat Level: Reduce or increase the cayenne pepper based on your tolerance for heat.
- Sweetness: For a less sweet option, reduce the honey or syrup by half.
- Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
