Instructions

  • Preparation
  • 1️⃣ Make the Burger Dog Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, diced jalapeño, and seasoning. Mix gently to keep the meat tender.
  • 2️⃣ Shape & Stuff: Flatten the beef mixture into 4 rectangles (6” x 3”). Place a cheddar stick in the center of each and wrap the meat around it, sealing the edges tightly.
  • 3️⃣ Chill: Place the Burger Dogs on a plate and refrigerate for 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape during cooking.
  • 4️⃣ Caramelize the Onions: While the Burger Dogs chill, melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle in brown sugar and a pinch of salt for extra depth.
  • 5️⃣ Make the Smoky Sauce: Whisk together mayo, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, and smoked paprika. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Cooking Steps

🔥 Smoking Method (Best for Flavor):

  • Preheat the smoker to 250°F and add applewood chips.
  • Smoke for about 1 hour or until the internal temp reaches 165°F.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before assembling.

🔥 Grilling Method (Faster Option):

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  • Cook the Burger Dogs for 12-15 minutes, rotating every few minutes for even cooking.
  • Remove from heat and let them rest for 5 minutes.

🔥 Pan-Seared & Oven Method (Indoor Alternative):

  • Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and sear Burger Dogs for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Transfer to a 350°F oven and bake for 10 minutes, until fully cooked.
  • Serving Instructions
