For the Patties:
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef 80/20 fat ratio
- ½ cup yellow onion finely minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 tablespoon burger seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
For the Cheeseburgers:
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 large lettuce leaves optional
- 1 medium tomato sliced (optional)
- 1 medium red onion thinly sliced (optional)
- Pickle slices optional
- Ketchup and mustard optional
Preparation:
Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, minced onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, garlic powder, seasoned salt, burger seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about ½ inch thick. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cooking Steps:
Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, heat canola oil over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until hot.
Cook the Patties: Place patties in the skillet, leaving space between them. Cook for 4–5 minutes on one side without pressing them. Flip once and cook for another 4–5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
Melt the Cheese: During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt evenly.
Toast the Buns: Lightly butter the buns and toast them in the oven at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until golden.
Assemble the Cheeseburgers:
Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom bun.
Layer lettuce, tomato, and onions (if using).
Add the patty with melted cheese, followed by pickles (optional).
Top with the bun and serve immediately.
- For extra flavor, toast the buns in the pan drippings after cooking the patties.
- To make a double cheeseburger, stack two patties with cheese between them.
