- 1 cup 256g whole milk small curd cottage cheese (4% milkfat)
- ½ tsp garlic powder optional, for extra flavor
- ½ tsp onion powder optional, for extra flavor
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika optional, for color and taste
- Pinch of black pepper or red pepper flakes optional, for a spicy kick
Preparation:
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Prepare the Cottage Cheese: Using a spoon, stir the cottage cheese to evenly distribute the curds and remove excess moisture.
Flavoring (Optional): If you’re using seasonings, mix them into the cottage cheese before scooping.
Scoop and Spread:
Use a tablespoon or small cookie scoop to drop portions of cottage cheese onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Space them about 2 inches apart to prevent them from merging.
Flatten each portion with the back of a spoon, spreading it to about ⅛ inch thick.
Bake Until Golden & Crispy:
Place the baking sheet in the middle rack of the oven.
Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the chips turn a deep golden brown with slightly dark edges.
Check around 30 minutes to prevent burning.
Cool and Crisp Up:
Remove from the oven and let the chips cool completely on the baking sheet.
They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
Enjoy!
Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for later.
- For extra crispiness, use whole milk cottage cheese with at least 14g protein per ½ cup (higher protein means less moisture).
- Avoid low-fat cottage cheese, as it contains more water and may result in softer chips.
- If the chips turn chewy instead of crispy, bake for an extra 5-10 minutes at 325°F (163°C).
- Best enjoyed fresh, but if they soften over time, reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5 minutes.
