- 1 cup long-grain white rice uncooked
- 1 can 10.5 oz condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 can 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 ½ cups water
- 1 packet 1 oz dry onion soup mix
- 5 medium boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Cooking Steps
In a mixing bowl, combine the rice, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, and water. Mix until smooth, and pour the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Gently place the seasoned chicken breasts on top of the rice mixture.
Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix evenly over the chicken and rice.
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to trap moisture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to let the top slightly crisp up.
Allow the dish to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- For added flavor, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top during the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Substitute chicken breasts with chicken thighs for a richer, juicier flavor.
- Add chopped vegetables like mushrooms or broccoli to make it a complete one-dish meal.
